In the last quarter of the 20th century there was a need, in the formal wear industry in South Carolina, for a quality rental garment that was backed by and experienced staff to provide personalized service for the well-dressed man.
In January of 1986, The Black Tie was established with this goal in mind, The Black Tie is a family owned and operated business and has attained this goal by hiring and training and experienced and knowledgeable staff with a combined 89 years experience in the formal wear industry.
The Black Tie started in a 1200 square foot facility with less than 100 units to serve the Sumter market and surrounding areas. Since that time, The Black Tie has expanded to additional locations in Columbia, Charleston, and Florence. As the Black
Tie grew every year, it continued to buy stock and increase its inventory. Today the inventory totals over 5,000 units, with
sizes ranging from Boys' 3 to a Men's 68L. Not only does The BlackTie carry over 40 different styles of tuxedos but it also has an extensive inventory of accessories.
Today, The Black Tie continues to grow while focusing on
its main goal: to give each individual the highest quality garment available in the men's formalwear industry and
to have a well trained and experienced staff to provide the best personalized service. |
